Why Do You Use A Shopping List?!

When I do a bigger shopping I usually drive over to Stirling or Alloa as our little town, or “village” as I call it, has only a Co-op and Tesco Express. And since corona, stock is low and prices high as usual (both shops). So to make sure I get everything my belly craves, the bigger town(s) it is.

Yesterday I found myself in Aldi. Of course I keep my distance, my hands and trolley are sanitised. I am prepared, my shopping list in hand. I know what I need and so I queue near the meat isle. A lady is right at the front. I wait….and wait….and others start to wait as well as she also blocked the isle by standing right in the middle, staring at the meat-

WITH A BIG FAT SHOPPING LIST IN HER HAND!!!

Woman?!? You have the list in your hand! What possesses you to stand there, staring a hole in she shelve? I don’t understand! Did someone else write the list and you can’t read the handwriting? Have you forgotten to read all together? At least have the courtesy to let others pass!

I wonder: When you have a shopping list, what takes you so long?

All I wanted was to get my shopping done as swift as possible. In and out! But nooooo, there I stood, giving her the death stare, silently talking to myself, trying to convince myself that it is not and I repeat NOT, a good idea to run her over with my trolley, telling the judge later that is was an accident while actually thinking to myself that she had it coming and that it was karma!

Some people… no words.

But you will be happy to hear that I got my shopping done eventually and nobody, deserved or not, got hurt!

Stay save and happy wherever you are

Corona And The Stupidity Of Hoarding

The corona virus is very present- here in UK, Ireland, everywhere really. Even in two little towns further down from us have been cases.

I was in Edinburgh the other day to get another tattoo and I have seen people with face masks walking about. I have seen and was served by Boots employees in gloves. Big and small businesses alike publish statements how they are coping with the virus going around. And that is all good! It is our responsibility to educate  and protect ourselves and others from this disease.

But what is so not okay are the empty shelves in supermarkets!

What is wrong with you people? Do you think that in case you contract this virus and can’t go shopping that you will starve to death because you have to be locked up at home?

Ever thought about that you could phone up family and friends to drop off food and all other things you think you might need in front of your door???

Oh you don’t have family and friends? There is also such thing as delivery service!!!

What? There is no delivery service in your area? Well I don’t really believe this, but okay if this is really the case: You have been tested positive! At a med centre or hospital! Therefor they have told you what to do and surely (if they haven’t offered already) you could contact them to voice your problem and believe me, they won’t say “no” for arranging someone to bring food to your oh so starving backside!!!

You  who plunder the shelves, you are  selfish peace of poop!!!

Ever thought of people who really need food? Like baby milk?

I for one, wanted to get some KoKo coconut milk for me and my family. Nothing left in the long lasting milk shelve except for almond milk which has only 2% of actual almond milk. Who wants to drink that??? It is vile! My daughter does not die from cow’s milk, but she would get really bad eczema flare ups and scratch 24/7! And me who is lactose intolerant and a pescetarier would sh*t my guts out with lots of pain, sweats, dizziness….and and and….

I was just glad to find some fresh KoKo milk in the fresh shelves. More expansive, again thanks to the hysteric buyers, but at least I got some.

Let’s hope this is all over soon and that not many more will be effected, suffer or even die!

A year after our house-buy

This month a year ago, we bought our lovely cottage here in good old Scotland.

What I didn’t know back then is that I don’t need my own home to be happy!

I also didn’t know that I would find it so hard to stay, to be rooted at one spot…. I keep on searching for nicer spots to live, my roots keep on telling me, that this might not be it!

A year ago all we had in mind was to buy a house in a lovely area and get rid of the spider infested (they where gigantic!!!) cottage we rented in a not so nice area.

We didn’t really think it all through. At least not properly.

Now I know that it isn’t that bad to live in the middle of nowhere, that there will be school buses/taxis for pupils and that when you are sick and bed ridden or older, the doctor will come out to you! And when their is no village store, you think twice if you really have to drive to the next store for a purchase or if you just cook something from scratch and therefor even save money!

Lets face it, food stores, post office, doctors is nothing but a luxury but you don’t really need it to survive, do you? It’s convenient, I totally agree.

Though our small town has only a population of around 2000, I still find it way to crowded, especially in summer when all the tourists are passing through…

When I was running this morning up to the waterfalls and further up the mountains, hitting snow, there was a lovely cottage on the way. Tucked away from roads with mountain and field views. Now that is what I would prefer. I could let me cats out, not worrying if someone might try to steal them (they are Siamese) or whether they could get hit by a car.

Though we knew how much we could borrow, we really shouldn’t have! We should have settled for a cheaper house! Sooner or later we would have found one!

Now that my husband was made redundant (cost cutting) and me job hunting as well, the money is very tight and soon gone which is frightening!

So whoever is out there, ask yourself the following:

Do I really need shops, doctors, schools, bus and/or train connection?

Is this the area I really want to settle?

Is this the house I can see myself grow old in and can I really afford and maintain it?

Think about the “what if’s”…

If everything ticks your boxes, go for it, if there is even one box where you would have to compromise, I personally would say, “no”, but that is up to you, of course!

As for me, I know better times will come, maybe even another house, I just keep going and make the best out of it!

I used to be rock ‘n roll….

now I am a boring house wife!!!

AND I DON’T LIKE IT!!!

I used to be the girl with the nose so high in the clouds,  she could barely see the ground!

I used to be a girl who looked very innocent but shouldn’t be underestimated!

I used to be a very wild child… quiet… who didn’t look for action, but when someone inflicted it, this girl used to have a big mouth and quick fists!

But that was in an ancient  time when said girl didn’t have 2 or even 4 children. When the girl was still independent, bought the world and had only herself to look after!

The girl decided it is time for children. Which she didn’t regret but she didn’t think about that the older the wee ones get, the more they cost!!!

Instead of… partying hard at the weekend until she and her friends where friendly asked by staff to leave, boarding planes to go shopping abroad, going somewhere and turning up days later without knowing what happened, deciding from one second to the other to get a new tattoo… this girl became a mommy and with being a mommy comes a lot of responsibility!

But I tell you what:

Though this girl should know better, she REFUSES, YES  R.E.F.U.S.E.S  to grow up!

I WILL take my old life back! Maybe I don’t run as wild as I used to, but I will be rock ‘n roll again!

It is just a matter of time!

Another kind of a shopaholic

I have a dear friend! Her name is Kerstin. I probably love her so much because she is very much like me!

Unless it comes to shopping!

When I went shopping with her for the very first time, she went in every single shop she could physically find! She lives in a very big city!!!

Since then I hate shopping and I can feel for all the men out there!!! How exhausted I felt after hours of walking from shop to shop just to see the same things over and over again!!!

I am not the type of girl who has to see all shops on this earth! When I want to buy something,  I know exactly what I want and where to get it!

No one needs countless pairs of shoes, 50 dresses, 35 jumpers or cardigans (then again… I love cashmere, as it is so nice and fluffy, so soft… and it gives you a nice hug in a cold winters night, right?!? So maybe I make an exception here) or 88 handbags…

We only have one body! Where would you put all these things??? After all, having a huge pile of clothing and accessories is just pure luxury. But that is fine!

I am not a fashion victim. Really! I never stick to the latest fashion, like wearing flokati like vests (who wants to wear a carpet, come one!) or these calf long vests with missing arms. Do you really want to look like a wizard???

I am not addicted at all! But… and now it comes:

When it comes to running clothes, “Inov-8” in particular, no one can stop me!!! I check the website regularly, check on the latest running shoes. Which ones are for road, off road, trail, fell, which one is the latest, what does it have for features, which is the lightest…

Oh and the jackets! Waterproof, windproof, colours, summer, winter, thermo, fleece… Hats and gloves. Merino is the new black!!!

I browse all the latest clothes and tools, also books and right now I am all pins and needles, waiting for my latest order which supposed  to arrive today! I didn’t even go shopping for food, because I am too frightened I could miss the postie!!! Pity I have to leave soon to pick up my little girl from school, but I could run…hmmmm….

Though I still feel ill, I got up at 6am every day to get used to it, as once I get rid of this flu, I will start running at 6am every day to train for a half marathon next year! Usually I run only 4 days a week,

but my real goal is to run ultra marathons!!! Oh just imagine what for nice things I can buy then!!!

This nice running inov-8 vest with the bottles on the front sites would suit me very well (spotted yesterday on the almighty internet). At the back I could stuff the gluten free  chia fruit gels I bookmarked… Oh and the trail shoe which is on offer at the moment would do just fine… Also maybe I should think about a “Buff” headscarf… or maybe I just stick to my cap. Although I should buy a second one, so it doesn’t get boring…

But addicted? A shopaholic? Me? Nah I don’t think so! Those sport items/clothes… THEY ARE OF VITAL IMPORTANCE!!!

Oooooh aaaaahhhhh, I think I am shaking a bit, my heart is racing… maybe it will get better when I order the latest ultra marathon book …. Where is the postie?!? I should go and check our doorbell now,  just in case, you know….
